To the Universe

It has been almost year a since I have completed my MS in Information Systems with a security focus from Central Michigan University (CMU) and left my position as a community manager (property management/affordable) housing. I left the position to become a Software Process Associate with in another organization. It is great to be in a position where I’m able to apply my graduate training and skills.

Also, I’ve begun preparing to test for the Comptia IT Fundamentals and Security+ certifications. I have chosen the two certifications because I’m interested in confirming basic user competency through the IT Fundamentals and Security+ certifications.

Since graduation, I’m volunteering as my time allows as a Teaching Assistant (TA) with Cybrary. Security education is an interest because of my background in training and development. This allows me to connect and learn from others.

At this time, I’m focusing on self learning and my certifications with an eye to the future and possibly some research endeavors. I realize this is probably not the best content post. However, I felt I needed to get this out to the universe, before I produce more useful posts.

I have achieved an MS in performance improvement and training and development from Northern Michigan University (NMU). Currently, I’m working towards an MS in information systems and cyber security through Central Michigan University (CMU). My interests are cyber security, social engineering, security and small business, network and physical security, and cyber security in the property management industry. I would like to combine the two areas of performance improvement and cyber security. This blog reflects that as well as defending against the dark art (and science) of cyber-attacks and current issues in the field.
