By writing more, I mean 2 or maybe 3 times per year! But seriously, while I have committed to doing so, I haven’t developed a plan. This is a work in progress. After all no one wants to read to shitty posts about what I have been doing or half-assed commitments to write more.
However, I have recently completed my networking basics course and the networking and cyber-security fundamentals class. Both have been somewhat inspiring, especially, the cyber-security fundamentals class. Through the course, I was able to clearly see the connection between people and security. Security is more than just patching a networking and making sure that a firewall is correctly configured. It is about end user behavior, developing a security minded organizational culture, business processes, and training.
I believe that there is fertile ground for applying training and development ideas to cyber-security. Doing so, I think will help us better understand the context, which breaches, and breakdowns occur. Breaches and breakdowns don’t occur in a vacuum, they occur in an organizational environment and context.
So, my plan (such as it is) is to pursue security from this context, with the forays into technical areas and even non-security areas.
